First off I want to say that I love this band’s name mainly because my children will never know of the lost planet of Pluto. My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine … will forever be an incomplete pneumonic. So Long, Pluto is a 5-piece band out of Scranton, PA that formed in early 2008. I actually met these guys in a bar last week while I was in Scranton for a medical school interview. I overheard them discussing what time signature the song that was playing at the bar was in and I just had to chime in. We had a pretty good conversation about musicianship and various bands and I offered to do an artist spotlight on their band. The band is made up of a keyboardist, two guitars and a drummer along with a violinist which adds a unique spin to the stereotypical template of two guitarist, a bassist and a drummer to which so many bands ascribe. This song is called “Everything You’re Not” and was just released today. Definitely check out their myspace and facebook and pick up their album Come Revisit El Paso! here.

Ween is a unique one of a kind band. This well respected duo consists of Gene and Dean Ween who consistently play new and different experimental psychedelic music. They have a huge underground fanbase but are mostly unknown to the majority. Just so you can get an idea of how crazy these guys are, supposedly on the album The Pod the contraption on the album cover is a bong-like device with scotchguard used to propel marijuana by use of nitrous oxide , which was said to leave the user intoxicated for days. No one knows if they actually made this device and used it, but it just shows you how crazy these guys are. So CHECK OUT THEIR MUSIC

I didn’t realize the picture I used a couple days ago was actually the cover of the mixtape so I feel stupid putting the same picture again, but whatever. Anyways here’s the new Hoodie Allen mixtape. I’ve recently getting into him more and he’s got a great sound. His indie samples are very creative and give him his own vibe. Hoodie’s very unique and a little quirky, which makes him all the more fun. Download his mixtape here and enjoy.
