Based on the set lists and reviews I’ve read it sounds like Umphrey’s McGee tore it up this weekend. I found a recording of a debute mash-up “Mark On The Bus” mashing Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls On Parade” with The Beastie Boys “Mark On The Bus”. Unfortunately I don’t have a recording of it but you can listen to it here. Its a really sick mash-up.
Here’s their set list from 10/30
I: All In Time > The Linear, Red Tape, Tribute to the Spinal Shaft (w/Chris Wood), Bulls on Mark (Bulls On Parade/Mark On the Bus mash-up) > Front Porch, Cemetery Walk II II: In Bloom > Booth Love, Rocker II > In the Kitchen, Miss Tinkle’s Overture > Andy’s Last Beer, Higgins > Miss Tinkle’s Overture E: Push the Pic > All In Time
Set list from 10/31

For all of you not fortunate enough to live in St. Louis, they will be streaming both show live at iClips.com (which is pretty freaking awesome right?) You do have to pay for it but its only $4.99 for the 30th and $6.99 for the 31st. Happy Halloween!
The time we have been waiting for has arrived. Pretty Lights has released the third and final installment of his EP trilogy, Glowing In The Dark, and it does not disappoint. Although its a little mellower than his last two EPs it still has the electro hip-hop flair that we all expect. The EP has found a balance of sick beats, great samples and electronic instrumentals. I haven’t posted anything in a while because of midterms and what not and I am happy this is my first post back. Download the whole EP at Pretty Lights website here.
Spotted N e Tempo at The Brain Trust’s blog. The Brain Trust is a hip-hop and electronic event production company with ties in Boston and NYC. They have worked with many artists like Major Lazer, KiD CuDi, O.T.T, Talib Kweli, EOTO, Rusko, Telepath, Brothers Past. N e Tempo really stood out to me as a duo that could really tear up the dance floor. Their music runs through the electronic genres covering dub step, breakbeat, house and downtempo. They have opened for big acts in the electronic scene including EOTO, Big Gigantic and Orchard Lounge. I really dig this band so check them out on Facebook and enjoy.

Exciting news from the world of Umphrey’s McGee! Starting this fall, Umphrey’s will begin rolling out some new music for all of us to enjoy. To kick things off they have released a new studio single titled “Wellwishers”. Its a pretty chill track and it definitely has potential for some wicked live jams.
Javis Faux is a 22 year old music producer based out of Augusta / Atlanta, GA. Let me say that this kid has a lot of talent. He has produced tracks for Niko Villamor, Yelawolf, HollyWeerd and a few other artists. His recently released instrumental album, Javis Eat World, is full of sick beats just waiting for someone to spit over. Download Javis Faux’s album here. Also check out his website and follow him on twitter.
This is a Beats Antique concert that was streamed live over the internet a few weeks ago. I know its long but if you have the time its really worth watching the whole thing. My favorite song would have to be at either 26:00 or 31:00. It gets pretty funny at 44:00 as well 🙂 Their music fuses underground hip hop, breakbeat brass band, downtempo, glitch and dubstep behind a curtain of middle eastern belly dancing (17:00) flavor. The violin and sitar brings sounds that are rarely heard in their genre. Also below is a couple track off of their new album Blind Threshold which you can pick up here.
