Umphrey’s McGee Halloween Monster Mash-Up

1 Nov

Based on the set lists and reviews I’ve read it sounds like Umphrey’s McGee tore it up this weekend. I found a recording of a debute mash-up “Mark On The Bus”  mashing Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls On Parade” with The Beastie Boys “Mark On The Bus”. Unfortunately I don’t have a recording of it but you can listen to it here. Its a really sick mash-up.

Here’s their set list from 10/30

I: All In Time > The Linear, Red Tape, Tribute to the Spinal Shaft (w/Chris Wood), Bulls on Mark (Bulls On Parade/Mark On the Bus mash-up) > Front Porch, Cemetery Walk II
II: In Bloom > Booth Love, Rocker II > In the Kitchen, Miss Tinkle’s Overture > Andy’s Last Beer, Higgins > Miss Tinkle’s Overture
E: Push the Pic > All In Time

Set list from 10/31

I: Ocean Billy > Conduit, Nothing Too Fancy > Hangover, November Walk [Guns N’ Roses/Cemetery Walk], Women Wine & Song > Ocean Billy, 1348 > The Way You Rule The World [Tears for Fears/ Michael Jackson] > 1348
II: The Triple Wide > Bitter Sweet Haji [The Verve/Hajimemashite], Bridgeless > Walletsworth, “Top 10 mash-up costumes,” Prowler > Bridgeless, SOciable Jimmy > Nothing Too Fancy, 1901 Jump You [Phoenix/Van Halen/Cee Lo Green], Bright Lights
E: JaJunk > Don’t Stop the Spirit of the Radio [Journey/Rush] > JaJunk

You can buy the show from 10/30 and 10/31 on their website.

MGMT Remixed, Reworked, and Mashed-Up

28 Sep

People seem to love to remix, rework, and mash-up MGMT songs (including MGMT themselves). So here’s just a few random MGMT remixes just because (no they aren’t new). The first is a rework of Electric feel done by MGMT themselves and its really sweet. I think it’s better produced and gives the song less of a messy sound. I really recommended checking that one out. The second is the Electric Feel Justice Remix. Then comes the DJ STHLM remix of kids (which is awesome). Fourth is the Wait What Nas vs. MGMT Justice Remix of Electric Feel mash-up (confusing right?) Lastly comes the famous Xaphoon Jones MGMT v Bob Marley mash-up which I’m pretty sure we already posted once, but whatever, it’s worth another post. That’s all I have to offer off of Oracular Spectacular. Then off of their latest album, Congratulations, here’s It’s Working Air Remix and a Someone’s Missing and Weezy mash-up. There are plenty more of them I’m sure, but I thought I’d share some cool ones. Check them out.

Rap Mash Ups

27 Sep

Mash ups are very popular these days, but because they are so easy to make there are a lot of bad ones out there.  I have come across a few mix tapes that truly stand out. These beats and samples are chopped up perfectly and make cool new songs.  Check them out:

So I post a song from Alexbeats earlier today off of the new 1320 Records Artist Compilation before I got to listen to the full album and now that I have listen to it I thought I give you guys a little more. 1320 Records is definitely one of my favorite record labels. Run by Sound Tribe Sector 9, 1320 Records has signed some great artist like Pretty Lights, Ronald Jenkees, Eskmo, Telepath and Bassnectar just to name a few. This is a great compilation of songs from various artist on the label. Here’s a taste of the album which can be download for free here.

Virtual Boy – Threshold of Pain

Emancipator – Father King

Wait What – This Is Real Life

2 Sep

Wait What is a very talented mash-up group who have a great ear for what will work in a mash-up and what won’t. This is their new album and I have to say, it’s awesome. The album can either be purchased or downloaded for free (you can enter your own amount). I would encourage you to enter any amount of money, no matter how small it is, because all proceeds go to 826 Valencia, a charity that supports youth writing. Feel free to take a listen below and download the album here. If you like this album or even if you don’t, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you get Wait What’s Notorious B.I.G and The XX mash-up because it’s incredible.
